In other to ascertain this role, the objectives of the Study was streamlined to anchor mainly on selecting a suitable measuring technique, analysis and interpretation of the role oil industry in economic development of the Nigeria Economy. We adopted the simple regression ordinary least square technique of data analysis using computer regression software to find out if oil revenue has any positive impact on the aggregate index of Agricultural production and also on our gross domestic product (GDP), and hence, our economic development and to what extend. From the analysis, it was revealed that the oil revenue has a positive impact on both the GDP and aggregate index of agricultural production, but it influence on the later was minimal considering its 58.8% contribution to aggregate index of agricultural production. The recommendation include, fostering an enabling environment for private sector investment in agricultural product as well as agro-industrial production strengthening of sectorial policy analysis and implementation capacity and to reduced to the barest minimum hazard effect of oil activities as it concerned agricultural sector among others.
